HourPower v1.5.0 Update 10/07/08

Even though HourPower is probably the smallest application available for download, it is nevertheless in the top three of the most popular applications. Now, it has been updated to v1.5.0 - the biggest update ever.

Changes:

- New language: (Brazilian) Portuguese - thanks to Thiago Martins for his support with the translation!

- Supports differentiation between 12-hour clock and 24-hour clock

- Automatic mode adapts time format to the current phone configuration

Overview
--------
You know the situation - you experience it almost every day:
When you wake up in the morning, you'll want to know the time.

Of course you could take a look at the alarm clock, but that would
imply looking at the small clock on your bedside table. If you have
a clock that's able to project the time on the ceiling, it's
better - but still, you have to get your eyes into a state where they
can focus at the numbers. This is where talking alarm clocks come in
handy. But you might not have one. However, you do have a mobile phone.
Why not let the phone read the time for you?

This is exactly where HourPower comes into play. It reads the current
system time out aloud - nothing else. No fancy UI, nothing to configure.
Just press the button and hear the time. Put it on a softkey of the
standby-screen for maximum comfort.

HourPower uses the built-in text to speech-engine of S60 3rd Edition
phones. English, German and French are currently supported. If your
phone is running a different language, you might not get the optimal
experience: your phone will try to speak the default English words,
but use your local dialect. In that case, you're welcome to translate
the words (and - if necessary - extend the source code to make sure
that all possible counting-irregularities in your language are
properly handled) and send it to us: HourPower is open source and
licensed under the GPL!

Installation
------------
This application is self-signed. You should be able to install it on
any unlocked S60 3rd edition phone via the PC suite or just by sending
it over to your phone via Bluetooth. You will get a security warning
during installation as this application is unsigned - you can ignore
it.

Some operators may configure the default settings of the phone in a way
that it doesn't allow installing unsigned applications. This might also
be the case for business-phones. In this case, enable installation by
going to the "Application Manager" (usually located in the "Tools" or
"Applications"-folder). Select "Options" -> "Settings". Change
"Software Installation" from "Signed only" to "All". Now try installing
HourPower again.

Startup / Time mode
-------------------
Upon the very first startup, the application will ask about the time mode.

You can choose between:
- Automatic: the time is always spoken according to the current
configuration of your phone.
- 12-hour clock: always use the 12-hour clock - e.g., 3:30 pm
- 24-hour clock: always use the 24-hour clock - e.g., 15:30

In German and Portuguese, it is not common to speak the time using
some sort of am/pm. Therefore, terms like "2 o'clock in the morning"
are used for those languages.

The 12-hour clock is currently not fully supported in French.

Note: this settings screen is only displayed upon the very first
start-up of HourPower after its installation. You can not change
the setting again afterwards, as the intention is to keep the use
of the time speaking mechanism as simple as possible and it should
usually not be required to change this setting later on.

To change the time mode later on, uninstall HourPower and perform
a fresh installation.

WaterBox 1.0

WaterBox is actually a fluid simulator that uses the built-in accelerometer to detect the phone movement and simulate the fluid moving across the screen according to phone position and moving direction.

All graphics are done with OpenGL ES although it probbably isn't the best possible choice for 2D graphic but since Teemu is already familiar with codding in OpenGL he decided to use OpenGL engine for this cool application.

Mobile London Street Map v. 0.1

This is a searchable street map of London. Image data is from streetmap.co.uk. Street index is from openstreetmap.org. Currently the street searching can get the location slightly wrong due to map projections and stuff. There are some other minor bugs, but it is very usable and useful. You need to actually get the jar from http://tdhutt.google...onstreetmap#gjw as the one on getjar is just a dummy file. You need some data files from too which I can't upload to getjar.

SMSScheduler v1.06 (Python stand-alone)

An application of my own to schedule SMSs. Uses Python but is a stand alone application. Has been tested on my N82. Note that it uses a randomly generated UID (what impact this has I don't know).

Any comments, feature requests or bug reports are welcomed.

I'm getting varying reports that it may or may not work when installed on the memory card, I'll look in to this, but it may be best to install on internal phone memory for now, it's a small application so won't take up too much room.

Known issues:
The right 'Exit' soft-key cannot be renamed so I've disabled it's functionality and display a message box detailing how to send the app to the background. To ACTUALLY exit the application select the 'Exit application' item in the left soft-key menu.
There is no way to disable the start on reboot functionality.
The icon cannot be dynamically resized (even though it's a vector based SVG!)
e32db.format_time has changed to return floating point precision on the milliseconds so the string seen in the idle list screen looks kinda weird... Not sure how to resolve this...

DISPLAY

Text: current position in WSG 84 format, speed, direction, altitude is displayed (text is red if no connection or no valid position is received from GPS device)
Map: current position is displayed with a yellow-black dot in the center of the screen (the map moves as position changes, dot always remains in the center). Dot blinks with red if no connection or no valid position is received from GPS device. Waypoint are also shown on map in order to help users to reach they desired position.
Compass: shows heading, points of compass, and direction of the next waypoint (other remaining waypoints are also shown).

REQUIREMENTS FOR MAPS

should be in GIF or JPG format;
do not use too large maps, it will e.g. above 1000x1000 pixel, because the loading of the images will be slowed down, use several maps if large are should be covered.

HOWTO INSTALL A MAP

copy the map to the phone (e.g. with PcSuite);
start GPSMap, select Options/Maps, select Options/Add map...
select one or more files or directories (for directiories, all applicable files in the directories will be added to the list) using the joy, then press OK;
the map will be listed, with a red X mark, which means that is not calibrated yet, and it may not be used until it is calibrated.

HOWTO CALIBRATE A MAP ON THE PHONE

For calibrating a map, you have to go to at least two different places on the map by foot, by car, by bus, etc., with the GPS device and your phone. Both times, you have to locate your position on the map by selecting Options/View and calib. at the list of the maps. In this view, you can use the joystick to move the map in large steps, or press the ABC button or with the joystick to move smoothly. Press 'I am here' to record your positon (a red dot will show it on the map). After you have set at least two places, the red X mark at the list of the maps will be a green sign.

You can calibrate a map on your PC with OziExplorer, if you know the coordinates of at least two points on the map.

HOWTO CALIBRATE A MAP ON A PC WITH OZIEXPLORER

,and start the TRIAL version (if you do not have a full version, of course). Select "File/Load and calibrate map image", select the datum (usually WSG-84) and projection system (e.g. Latitude/Longitude).
Add at least two points: select Point 1 on the tab on the right, select the position on the image, then enter the coordinates of that point. Repeat this with another point as Point 2. Please use points far away from each other, e.g. one in the left bottom part of the image, one in the top right part of the image. Select save, then exit.

Display: text, automatic or a selected map (only calibrated maps are listed). In text mode, latitude, longitude, speed, course, altitude, accuracy and number of sattelites in sight are listed. In automatic mode, always the map available for the current position will be displayed, otherwise it shows that there isn't any available map. When a map is selected, positions outside the maps will be simply shown using a blank screen with the red dot in the center and added waypoints.
Always on: prevent the phone from going into standby mode (to switch off the screen) - works only if a map is displayed and the position is valid.
Positioning: select the position source. If you do not have a GPS device, Network based could be a choice, but please note that this requires an Internet connection and initiates a connection each 30 seconds, so a flat rate is recommended.

My N93 can't install unsigned cracked by BiNPDA anymore coz the patcher and stuff can't be installed.


Hopefully BiNPDA will also release the unsigned version like they used to release so that i can sign it with my certificate otherwise no hope to use any application from BiNPDA unless i buy a new phone :weedman:

* Disable scroll mode when a menu is active or in design mode
* Option to set text instead of entering scroll mode when icon is selected

v0.31b - fixed a few bugs and added the new Notepad plug-in.

Drop a note anywhere, set the text, colours, size.

In design mode press 5 to toggle between 'move' and 'size' mode; in size mode you move the bottom right corner around with the number keys.

The text entry is fairly standard; however you can use [] to set text attributes very similar to the attributes in these forums. So far I've implemented bold and and colour [c:#] where # is:
0 - original colour
1 - black, 2 - blue, 3 - cyan, 4 - green, 5 - yellow, 6 - red, 7 - magenta, 8 - white
9 - dark blue, 10 - dark cyan, 11 - dark green, 12 - brown, 13 - dark red, 14 - dark magenta

Press fire in normal (non-design) mode to activate the scroller - if your note is bigger than the note box use 2/8 to scroll, or 4 (top), 6 (bottom)
Press fire again to leave scroll mode

GDesk:
* Added an option to "Remember Last Menus" - when you open a menu and select an item from a sub-menu if you then open the same menu again it will automatically open the sub-menus too. Very useful when making multiple changes to an item.
* Override Screen Mode - this is a debug feature that shouldn't have been released Smile It allows me to load GDD files designed for phones with different screen sizes. Consider it dangerous; don't use - I lost a design file that I hadn't saved while using this! I'll remove it from the next build.

Clock plug-in:
* the user can now set their own clock face, using the standard Set Icon feature
* added the ability to set hand colours and thicknesses
* added High Quality mode - a smoothed hand plotter, much better visual quality; adjustable softness
