Detailed Guide On How To Get Your Own Certificate From OPDA by X.Factor

IMPORTANT NOTICE :
All the following guides have been written from scratch by me (X.Factor).
Its the most detailed guide you will find anywhere in the mobile community around the world.
Its not copy/paste stuff. All the writings and screenshots are mine.
I've invested alot of time in making it easy for even those people who are new to this signing stuff.

1. Overview

Since the time SymbianSigned has closed its doors to the public, many people have not been able to sign their applications. However when one door closes, someone opens another window. For us, this window of opportunity has been opened by OPDA. OPDA is being very generous in giving out certificates to anyone who is in need of them. Since the forum is in chinese language, I'll be guiding you on how to request and receive your certificate for your phone. OPDA issues anywhere around 1000 to 2000 certificates per day.

2. Requirements

Chinese members won't face any problems navigating the site but non chinese members will and my guess is that most non chinese members won't be having Chinese fonts installed on their PC to be able to see the chinese symbols. In that case, I'll advice you to download this chinese font from the link below to make it easier for you to understand my guide.

How to Install the downloaded font :

• Unrar.
• Copy the font.
• Go to Control Panel and select "Fonts"
• Paste the font in the Fonts folder.

Detailed Guide On How To Get Your Own Certificate From OPDA by X.Factor

1. Registration

Go to this page :

http://www.opda.net.cn/register.php

Fill in the fields as instructed in the image below.



• Field 1 : Input the correct answer to the mathematical question given above.
• Field 2 : Type in your desired username.
• Field 3 : Type in your password.
• Field 4 : Retype your password.
• Field 5 : Enter your hotmail email address.
• Click 'Submit' after filling all the fields.



If your registration has been successful then you will be taken to a page similar to the one in the above image and your ID will be visible on the top in place of the "Register" button. If not then go back and try again.




2. Certificate Request

Now go to this page :

User's Control Panel Explained with Image:





Scroll to the very bottom of the page and fill in your details like shown in the image above.

• Enter your phone's IMEI (press *#06# on your phone to retrieve your IMEI) and
• Enter the current date (preferably China's date GMT +8:00)

Here we are taking an example with :
• IMEI : 356983016449313
• Date : 25-03-2008

You can find out the current date in China at the bottom right of the page

3. Post Number



Note down your post number and keep it safe as you will be needing it to check the status of your request.
In our example, the post number is 41890.




4. Fulfilling Criteria [OP Virtual Currency]

• OP is the Virtual Currency of OPDA forum.
• I'm not too sure but I think we get 1 OP per post.
• You exchange OP as payment for downloading your Cert/Key.
• The payments may vary. Some downloads ask for 3 OP and some ask for 5.
• So browse around the site and reply in some topics to earn your OP.
• I request you all to respect their forum rules and not to spam. Post thoughtful replies.

5. The Wait

After posting your certificate request, you need to wait for some days for your request to be completed.
Since alot of people are requesting certificates, it might take anywhere from 3 days upwards to get your certificate.
Just have some patience. The wait is worth it when you finally receive your certificate.




6. Checking Status of your Request.

Go to this page :

• Scroll down to the end of the 1st post.
• In the end of the post, you will find a date and a number range.
Example : 2008-03-29号前40801-42142楼申请的会员请到这里领取证书
• Now find if your post number falls within the number range or not.
• If yes then click the link below it and if not then check again next day.

7. IMEI Listing

• Press CTRL + F to bring up the search function.
• Enter your IMEI press Enter.
• This is to make sure if your IMEI is among the ones listed.
• Once you have found your IMEI, continue to the next step.

8. Downloading Certificate

• Scroll down to the end of the post.
• At the end you will see your rar file download link.
• Below it, it will state how much OP (OPDA's Virtual Currency) you need to be able to download.
• If you have the required OP then click on the link marked in the image to download.
• You will be taken to a page telling you how much OP you need to exchange for the download.
• Just click the link at the end and you will be taken to next page with Successful confirmation message.
• Download will now begin automatically.

Congratulations! You have finally received your Cert!
You can forget all about SymbianSigned now for 3 Years!

Important Notes :

• Cert is valid for 3 years from the date of issue.
• Certs/Key are being issued without any password.

Update :

Non Chinese members now have the option of requesting their Certs in a different section of the forum.

This guide is very easy to understand with step by step tutorial along with screenshots to assist even newbies who does not know a thing about signing files. Members now need not request others to sign their files. This guide by me will teach you everything you need to know to sign your file.

Note :

• You'll only be prompted for the certificate, key and password, the first time you run the application.
• After that, you can sign files just by double *** them.

If you have 2 or more different sets of Certs and Keys for different IMEIs and you would like to interchange among those to sign files for various handsets then each time you need to sign a file for a particular IMEI, you need to do the following:

1. Open "My Computer"
2. Select "Tools" > "Folder Options" > "View" > "Show hidden files and folders"
3. Browse to C:\Documents and Settings\Your Current Account Name\Application Data\Barak's SignMe!
4. Delete the Certificate and Key in that folder and Password file (If any)
5. Now follow my signing guide from Step No. 6.
6. Do this everytime you need to sign files for different IMEIs.

To run SignME Beta v1.08 on Vista:

1. Browse to C:\Program Files\Barak's SignME
2. Right ** on signMe!.exe
3. Select "Run as administrator"
4. Then select your Cert and then your Key.
5. The other procedures remains the same.

For those of you who are having difficulties in signing files using SignME, you can consult the Guide below.

Simple Guide On How To Sign Files Using BiNSign With The Cert/Key Received From OPDA by X.Factor

Since some of you have had difficulties using SignME to sign your files, I'm making this Tutorial to guide you in the signing process using BiNSign. Just follow the image tutorial and you will be able to sign your files in no time. This is a very simple guide and everyone should be able to understand.
